Day 2 morning: Schönbrunn Palace
Head out to Schönbrunn as early as you can manage — the palace interior, the walk up to the Gloriette, and the gardens comfortably fill a morning. If you're travelling with kids, or simply love a good zoo, add Tiergarten Schönbrunn and turn it into a full day here instead.
Day 2 afternoon: back to the centre
Take the U4 back into town and spend the afternoon on whichever museum or district you didn't reach on day one — the Albertina is a good, compact option if you're short on time, or wander the Naschmarkt if you'd rather browse than queue for another museum.
Day 2 evening: Prater or a Heuriger
For something different from day one's Old Town focus, either head to the Prater for a ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel as the sun goes down, or, if it's the right season, take a taxi or tram out to one of Vienna's Heurigen wine tavern districts (Grinzing or Neustift am Walde) for a relaxed evening of local wine and simple food.
